Trucking Trends of the Future???

Could these technologies take over the trucking industry?

Some decades ago, people had ideas about what the future would look like–in other words, today. People imagined a future with flying cars, chrome couches, and other outer space-like technological advancements. While 2025 might not have made flying cars mainstream, this year has many other interesting technologies that could apply to the trucking trends of the future.

Self-Driving Semis

Automated vehicles aren’t just for regular people; they can be for commercial use as well. The idea of self-driving semi-trucks and other commercial vehicles has already come up, and automated commercial vehicles are already in the testing phase. For now, we can expect driver-assist technologies that are already present to advance in commercial truck designs.

Alternative Fuels

Diesel has been the tried and true fuel for semis and other vehicles, but other options might be on the horizon. We aren’t just talking about electric vehicles. Hydrogen, water, and other alternative fuels are in development, with hydrogen taking the lead.

IoT Explosion

With the expansion of 5G networks launching only a few years ago, commercial trucking companies can apply many more IoT devices without losing quality Wi-Fi connections. The expansion of the Internet of Things in trucking can help truckers, dispatchers, and logistics centers communicate and enhance successful trucking services.

AI and Logistics

Artificial intelligence has been a long-developing technology that seems almost as monumental, if not more so, than the machines of the Industrial Revolution. How it will ultimately develop into society is still unknown, but for now, it can prove useful in the trucking industry as well for various logistical tasks.

Last-Mile Deliveries

Last-mile deliveries, the transportation of goods from their last travel point to their final destination, are trending because of the rise of e-commerce. Evan Transportation can perform last-mile deliveries within the Mid-Atlantic region, including pickups from railheads and shipping ports.

Outsourcing

Outsourcing trucking services has been going strong for quite some time and will likely continue to remain a sure way of doing business. Relying on an experienced trucking company for routine or even one-time deliveries can give you the expert services you need without the cost of sourcing them in-house. Evan Transportation is one such company in the Mid-Atlantic region.

All of these trucking trends of the future can be highly controversial, but all might have something to offer for the future. What do you think?
