Latest on the CSA

H.R. 1371  is a House of Representatives bill introduced which would overhaul the way that the CSA handles its regulation and notably make driver’s motor carrier safety data, often called CSA scores, inaccessible to the public except for when necessary for law enforcement. Potential Toll Reduction for Maryland

maryland-toll-reductionDrivers of Maryland received good news about toll reduction this week. Governor Larry Hogan announced that there would be a toll reduction that would reach across the state. The toll reduction is estimated to save Maryland drivers about $54 million a year. Drivers who use cash to pay the tolls will experience a thirty percent saving while E-ZPass drivers will see at least a fifty percent savings. Maryland drivers haven’t seen tolls this low since 1975.The toll reduction is assumed to benefit at least 2 million drivers each year. It is estimated currently that residents of Maryland spend about $4,600 on tolls each year.

The Road Check Inspection Update

Inspection The annual road check inspection is scheduled this year for June 2nd to the 4th, and will be performed in a joint effort by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. During these 72 hours, about 10,000 officials at 1,500 stations throughout North America will perform over 70,000 inspections.
