Easy Steps to Keep Your Semi Truck Cab Clean

Easy Steps to Keep Your Semi Truck Cab Clean

With a tight schedule and limited interior space, truckers can find themselves with an unruly semi truck cab from time to time.

As a professional driver, you need to take steps to keep your semi truck cab clean and make that capable impression. Of course, with a tight schedule and limited interior space, truckers can find themselves with an unruly semi truck cab from time to time. There are services that have someone else clean out and detail your cab — which may prove helpful if you ever sell or upgrade your truck in the future. However, it’s just as simple to set aside some time after a trip to tidy up the semi truck cab with the following steps.

Toss Out Trash

Wrappers, receipts, water bottles, takeout containers — there’s plenty of trash that can accumulate in a semi truck cab even after one day. Imagine how much trash you could be lugging around after a long haul! If you haven’t disposed of the garbage in between stops, take out the trash at the end of your trip. Keep trash bags or even a small trash bin in the cab, so the loose pieces of trash aren’t floating around cup holders, dashboards, or the floor.

Vacuum and Clean the Mats

Take out the floor mats and shake out loose debris. Then, grab a vacuum, preferably with long attachments, to suck up dirt, dust, and whatever else is lurking on the cab floors. Be sure to get into every tricky area, such as under the seats and around the pedals. Further, take the vacuum to the mats before replacing them back into the semi truck cab.

Wipe Down the Dashboard

Use a gentle cleaner and cloth to wipe down your dashboard. Primarily, you want to remove any dust. Just be careful not to knock or damage any of the controls on the panel. Truckers should not be eating or drinking while driving, so there should be less concern about getting any residue off of the dashboard. That said, you can find messes almost anywhere, so just clean it off if you do come across it.

Clean All the Windows

Clean windows mean better visibility and less distraction! Use a streak-free window cleaning solution on the inside and outside of the semi-truck cab. Be wary of cleaning tinted windows, as being too abrasive could accidentally remove some of the tinting treatment.

As a trucker, you may want to consider keeping a few cleaning supplies and tools on board to clean up messes as they happen or tidy up regularly.
