Truck drivers spend long hours sitting in their cab and driving for hours at a time, so it’s important to make the trip as comfortable as possible. There are a few essential cab accessories that every trucker should have on hand to ensure they are able to carry out their job safely and enjoyably.
Sunglasses
A truck driver should never get behind the wheel without a quality pair of sunglasses. Harsh sun beans can make it very difficult to see while driving and can cause accidents on the road. A good pair of sunglasses also helps to prevent fatigue, headaches, and eyestrain.
First Aid Kit
When spending days at a time in their truck, the cab can become a trucker’s second home. Think about all the medical emergency kits you keep in your bathroom at home and pack the same items in your truck. You never know what will happen on the road, but keeping bandaids, medicine, a small flashlight, gauze, tweezers, and gloves in your cab will keep you prepared for anything. Truckers are known for poor diets, as life on the road isn’t ideal for cooking healthy meals. Most truckers have to deal with irregular mealtimes because of their crazy schedules and must rely on fast food for sustenance. However, cooking your own meals is always healthier, not to mention tastier! Pack a mini-fridge full of fresh fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks to keep your energy levels up on a long haul. Some truckers even bring a slow cooker, as they can let their meal cook for hours while they drive until it’s time for lunch or dinner.
Entertainment
While truck drivers are often busy, they also have a mandatory rest period every day to stay off the road and get some rest. This time can be lonely for solo truckers, so it’s essential to have some entertainment. This may include a gaming console, which is great for playing with friends and family back home, a laptop or TV to stream your favorite shows, and a mobile wireless hotspot to ensure your connection is always strong.
